India and Web 2.0:
In 1952 India's prime minister at the time Jawaharlal Nehru decided to set up the Indian Institutes of Technology (or IIT) to train the most gifted engineers, computer scientists and software specialists in the world.
Up until the mid-1990’s, India could not provide jobs for experienced engineers because there just wasn’t the work for them to do these types of jobs in India.
Many of these people left the country, mainly to the states.
Since then America has been enriched with much knowledge and understanding of engineering due to the educated Indian engineers.
Then along came Netscape and Global Crossing and fibre optic cables were fitted across the world.
These cables allowed information to travel much faster than older cables.

This meant that many Indian IIT graduates who had always needed to leave the country and go to America for IT work were now able to connect to the rest of the world from their home country with computers.

Background on Blogs: A blog is actually a contraction of the two words: “web log,” and is often defined as a “Web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. (Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order)” (Wikipedia). The definition naturally changes because of the fluid nature of online social interaction. With the introduction of video blogging, the word blog now means “any bit of media wherein the subject expresses his opinion or simply talks about something.”
The respective purposes of blogs vary. A blog is primarily textual, but some function as online diaries, photoblogs (photographs), sketchblogs (drawings or sketches), vlog (video blogs), MP3 blogs (music), and podcasting blogs (audio) are a few variations that can be seen online.
In the United States blogging has played a significant role in politics. According to Wikipedia, “[blogs are] often seen as partisan gossips, bloggers sometimes leas the way in brining key information to public light, with mainstream media having to follow their lead.” Blogs were actually playing such an important role in our elections and politics that in 2004 numerous websites nominated what they believed to be the best political blogs. For example, according to “Blogger’s Choice ’09 Awards: Best Political Blog” <
http://bloggerschoiceawards.com/categories/19> the number one political blog is “Thebushwackedleague.Blogspot.com.” On the other hand, according to “About.com: U.S. Politics” <http://uspolitics.about.com/od/blogs/Blogroll.htm>

· These are the most Conservative Blogs: “Captain’s Quarters and Powerline”
· The Best Analytical Blogs: “Mystery Pollster and Political Arithmetik”
· Best Campaign Blogs: “Campaign Desk and Political State Report”
· Best Liberal Blogs: “Daily Kos, The Blogging of the President: 2004, Project Censored, Tapped, and Huffington Post”
· Best Libertarian Blogs: “Eternity Road, Hammer of Truth, Reason Hit and Run, and South Puget Sound Libertarian”
· Best Media Blogs: “Buzz Machine, Media Matters, Right Hook, and Public Eye”

Again, this system of ranking naturally differs between websites because of the judges. On the same note it is difficult to list some of the most influential blogs that are playing a role in our politics right now, but according to the “Blogger’s Choice ’09 Awards” some of the other blogs that could win are also:

· Margaretandhelen.wordpress.com
· Booboiseonline.blogspot.com
· Mudflats.wordpress.com
· Politicalcapital.info
· Dustinsgunblog.blogspot.com
· Myviewmytake.wordpress.com

Background

The Web 2.0 is what brought us the Youtube. It is what made it possible for us to post and use the youtube.[2] Web 2.0 has so many meanings to the name but, all of them are correct. The main meaning of it is that it is a platform for the Web.[3]

Areas of Impact

Education

Web 2.0 has not had as large an impact on Education as maybe it has a politics, but that is changing quickly. This project is a testament of the power of the web. Kids from all over the world contributing ot a project without travel or extensive planning is revealing of the direction of education of the near future. Technology, particularly web based technology, will provide a more level playing field for the word's children to learn and grow. Any topic of interest will become available for learning via the internet's vast educational resources. Already people can earn advanced college degrees exclusively online. Languages may become easier to learn via direct interaction online. Web 2.0 will definitely have a tremendous impact on education, but some countries will undoubtedly take advantage of the webs resources quicker than others. The United States may lag behind due to our governments weak Federal Education department and backwards teachers union. The teachers union has long placed a heavier emphasis on ensuring their own job security and fair work hours over improving our public school resources and curriculum.

Web 2 can be very useful for people, especially students. Web2 gives the students a wide space and abilities to discuss related educational topics using new applications. There are many examples of some websites which use the web2 technology such as iEARN organization and the best example we can mention here is the Flat Classroom ning as we can see how easy it connects students around the world with each other.
The web 2 applications can also help the teachers in many educational sides. Such as connecting with other teachers around the world or maybe connecting with their own students. There are many websites such as illuminate offering online meetings for teachers to discuss different educational topics. Teachers can also use illuminate to meet there students.

Government, Politics and Employment

Web 2.0 has had a major impact on politics, it is easily seen in the current United States presidential elections. YouTube videos allow everyone to view speeches and debates. Candidates have had MySpace pages created for them. MySpace had their own primary poles the day before the Iowa Cacuses (one of the American voting styles) while Facebook and YouTube helped to sponsor some primary debates. However the new Web 2.0 is not the only thing responsible for the sudden interest in younger people, given the fact that most people under 30 don't have a home phone line. Of course with this new information has been spread faster than ever. In Qatar you are able to see Colin Powell's sponsorship of Barack Obama and all the comments my normal people along with thoes of the columnists. CNN has taken advantage of the Web 2.0 tools and started Ireports, which give a unique view point of issues than you would get with journalists.

Arts, Entertainment and Leisure

Web 2.0 has impacted the way technology works, before it was only numbers and information, but as the years went by the evolution of technology has been huge. Now the internet holds different information such as politics, current events, the weather, maps, but the biggest branch of all of these things is entertainment. Entertainment contains music, movies, arts, etc. Web 2.0 has influenced this branch of information more than any other because people access this every day. Web 2.0 has made it possible that YouTube exists, where everyone can broadcast himself or other people, get known around the world by just uploading a video onto the web. Web 2.0 has also allowed that other companies advance in their own technology, companies such as Apple, Microsoft, AOL, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online, and many.

The role of web 2.0 technologies has also extended to the televisions of our time, now instead of broadcasting a few channels we are able to watch about 100 channels in satellite, cable, and watch television on the computer over the internet. People today want the latest on entertainment whether if it’s by commenting a friend or a relative over a social network, creating mash-ups, or making their own art. Web 2.0 allows this to happen because the technology has evolved; it is more advanced than 50 years ago when there was no DVD player to watch your favorite movie, or an ipod to listen to your music in.
Not only is Web 2.0 on the internet it is also in the busiest state of the U.S country, New York. There are web 2.0 expos being held in the state. Web 2.0 art is becoming famous as the technology advances. The Barbarian Group contributed to the interactive installation, and they also partnered up with McLeod Residence a new type of interactive art gallery and space in Seattle. They came up with the idea of making a picture out of other pictures and text from those inside the computer files. New York is one of many other places that hold expos like these, places such as San Francisco, Europe, Berlin, and Tokyo. All of these places have one thing in common and that is trying to make the Web 2.0 technology more popular so business and entertainment can advance.

Science, Environment, and Health

Web 2.0 has affected our health media in many ways such as allowing students in medical classes to interact with other students that live in rural areas and to assist them in the learning of new tecniques. Health medias are using this new downloadable schedule that is allowing the students to know the exact time a lesson is going on and they are allowed to interact with the other students that are participating. This is also helping students learn new techniques to use in their procedures. Source: E-Health Insider
